KUMASI MAYOR AND METRO EDUCATION DIRECTOR TOUR BECE CENTRES TO INSPIRE CANDIDATES

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, in collaboration with the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate, led by Mr. David Oppong has embarked on a comprehensive tour of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres within the metropolis. The exercise, conducted on Monday, was aimed at monitoring the smooth conduct of the nationwide examination while offering moral support and motivation to the candidates.

The tour, which took the team to several key examination centres including Opoku Ware School, Bantama Adventist Senior High School, and Serwaa Nyarko SHS, saw the Mayor and the Metro Education Director interacting with students, invigilators, and supervisors. They expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness exhibited by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in ensuring strict adherence to examination protocols.

Addressing the media during the tour, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi underscored the importance of education in shaping the future of young people and reaffirmed the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s commitment to supporting education at all levels. He urged the candidates to remain confident and focused, assuring them that their efforts would bear fruit in the near future.

“We are here to encourage our young ones to give off their best in this important examination. The BECE marks a significant milestone in their academic journey, and we want them to know that the city of Kumasi stands behind them,” the Mayor stated. He also emphasized the need for discipline, honesty, and integrity throughout the examination period.

Mr. David Oppong, the Kumasi Metro Director of Education, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exams so far. He praised the teachers and heads of basic schools within the metropolis for the dedication and hard work they put into preparing the candidates. According to him, a total of 9,846 candidates are sitting for the 2025 BECE across 35 examination centres within the Kumasi Metropolis
