Police arrests alleged drug dealer with Indian hemp and other drugs

The Ghana Police Service, through an intelligence-led operation, has arrested one suspect over the alleged possession of 92 slabs of a substance, suspected to be Indian hemp, and other drugs at his possession.

According to reports, the suspect, Free Course, was arrested at his residence on Saturday at about 0100 hours, at Akim Kusi.

Reports indicates that the suspect was arrested after he assaulted a military officer who was passing through the community, which however, resulted in the Police placing a surveillance on him to aid in his arrest.

“Investigation conducted so far indicates that Free Course has been dealing in narcotics within Akim Kusi and its surrounding areas,” the release said.

 

A search conducted on his residence led to the retrieval of 92 slabs of a substance wrapped in yellowish material, suspected to be Indian hemp and other substance that suspected to drugs which he sells in the area.

 

Upon preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted ownership of the items.

“He is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations and will be put before the court,” the release said.

According to the people in the community, drug abuse is a serious problem within the community and they are appealing to the government and the Ghana Police Service to help eradicate the menace.

 

According to them, the suspect, Free Course should not be released so as to serve as a deterrent to any potential drug dealers.
