In a bid to improve teaching and learning conditions across the Amansie South District, the District Assembly has officially handed over a number of dual desks to basic schools in the area.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Assembly to address the persistent challenge of inadequate furniture in public schools.
Speaking to the media after the short handing-over ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that every child in the district has access to a conducive learning environment.
He noted that the donation of the desks is a continuation of the Assembly’s broader education support agenda.
“Our children are the future leaders, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the basic tools they need to learn effectively,” he stated.
“This intervention is not just about desks—it’s about creating an atmosphere that motivates both pupils and teachers.”
He further urged school authorities to take good care of the furniture to ensure longevity and also encouraged parents to continue supporting their children’s education.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Amansie South District Education Directorate, Mr. Joseph Kingsley Adu, the Deputy Director in charge of Supervision and Monitoring, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the timely support.
He indicated that many schools in the district have long struggled with inadequate seating arrangements, often forcing pupils to sit on the floor or share desks.
According to him, the donation will go a long way to enhance the comfort and concentration of pupils during lessons.
“We are extremely thankful for this support. It comes at a time when most of our schools are in dire need of desks,” Mr. Adu said.
“This will certainly improve classroom management and overall academic performance.”
He also appealed to other stakeholders and development partners to emulate the Assembly’s example and support the educational needs of the district.
The brief event saw the participation of assembly members, education officials, school heads, and community leaders, all of whom commended the Assembly for its proactive approach to education development in the area.
