MASTERCARD FOUNDATION AND KNUST EMPOWER TEPA NURSING STUDENTS THROUGH HEALTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM
In a groundbreaking initiative to bridge the gap between healthcare and innovation, the Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has organized a Health Entrepreneurship Empowerment program for students of the Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
The event, held on the Tepa nursing training college campus, brought together facilitators from knust to join Tepa nursing training college facilitators, students, educators, to explore entrepreneurial opportunities within the health sector. With a focus on equipping nursing and midwifery students with the skills and mindset needed to drive innovation and self-sufficiency, the program aligns with Mastercard Foundation’s goal of empowering young Africans for dignified and fulfilling work.
The one-day training featured interactive workshops, mentorship sessions, and keynote speeches from healthcare entrepreneurs and academic experts. Participants were guided through real-world case studies and practical strategies for developing community-based health solutions, starting small-scale health enterprises, and leveraging technology in healthcare delivery.
Speaking to the media in an interview, Mr Isaac Boakye facilitator from knust emphasized the importance of merging healthcare education with entrepreneurial thinking. “Our future nurses and midwives must not only be caregivers but also innovators,” he said. “With the right training, they can identify gaps in the health system and create sustainable solutions that benefit their communities.”
On her part, Mrs Lydia konadu Tutor and facilitator of Tepa nursing and midwifery Training College also said he is expecting that after the training she is expecting most of their students will benefits from the training .
