Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has admonished President John Dramani Mahama to retain Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as he has been very diligent in all his operations.
According to Mr. Bentil on his Facebook page, there have been reports of the removal of the IGP however, he stated that there is a need to keep “the good men we have.
“There are rumors the IGP has been fired. It’s not true as at now, but I know some people are pushing the President to do that. It’s wrong. Mr. President please keep the good men we have. It will be a good legacy in your honour to do so!” he said.
He described IGP Dampre as the best, stressing that he has been very diligent and professional in all his years in the police service.
Mr. Bentil stressed further by stating, “Ghana needs good people in office and IGP Dampare is one of such good officer. His stay in office is good for Ghana. If indeed you represent a reset in how things are run, I urge you to retain him and show your difference.”
He appealed to President Mahama not to repeat the mistakes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasizing the safe haven created by the IGP over the years.
“You promised a reset, please don’t abandon that and do a repeat. Show difference. Ghana will be better if you keep the good ones like Dampare,” he cautioned.
