Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, delivered a keynote address at Academic City University, emphasizing the urgent need to align STEM education with industry demands to drive Ghana’s industrialization.
Speaking on the theme “Bridging the Gap: The Role of STEM Education in Industry,” he stressed that Ghana must move beyond theory-based learning and equip students with practical skills in AI, robotics, biotechnology, and sustainable energy. He highlighted curriculum reform, industry-academia collaboration, and government policy support as key priorities.

“Industrial transformation does not happen by accident. Faith without works is dead—we must act now,” he declared.

He reaffirmed that a John Mahama-led government would champion hands-on learning, digital access, and women’s participation in STEM, linking these to the ASPIRE 24 framework under the 24-hour economy model to create STEM-driven jobs and innovation opportunities.

Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah called on educators, industry leaders, and students to embrace technology and innovation, urging collective action to secure Ghana’s economic future.
