The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of Kasim Mingle as the new head coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s U-23 national team.
In his first statement after his appointment, Coach Mingle vowed to rely heavily on home-based players to build a strong and competitive team.
“My philosophy is to develop and promote local talent,” Coach Mingle said. “I believe that there are many talented young players in Ghana who can compete at the highest level.”
Coach Mingle, a seasoned coach with experience in Ghanaian football, expressed his commitment to working with local players and providing them with the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage.
“I will be scouting for talented players in the Ghana Premier League and other local competitions,” he said. “My goal is to build a team that is not only competitive but also proudly Ghanaian.”
The Black Meteors have been without a coach since the departure of Ibrahim Tanko, who left the team after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Coach Mingle’s appointment has been welcomed by football fans and stakeholders in Ghana, who are eager to see the Black Meteors return to their former glory.
The new coach is expected to name his squad for the upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will take place later this year.
With his focus on home-based players, Coach Mingle is expected to inject new energy and excitement into the team, and Ghanaian football fans are eagerly awaiting the start of his tenure.
