The Former Ashanti Regional National Security Coordinator under the previous NDC government, Enoch Nsiah Amoako, has criticized comments made by Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP’s running mate, urging Ashantis not to vote for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming general election.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh claimed that the NDC has nothing beneficial to offer Asanteman and warned that those who support the party would be “under a curse.”
In response, Amoako stated that the people of Asanteman have historically prospered when the NDC is in power, deeming Opoku Prempeh’s remarks as unwarranted.
During a media briefing in Kumasi, Mr Amoako highlighted the struggles faced by businesses in Asanteman due to excessive taxes and suggested that if Opoku Prempeh genuinely cared about the region’s development, he would have influenced better governance.
He dismissed ongoing projects such as the Suame Interchange and the Boankra inland port as mere electioneering tactics designed to deceive voters.
Mr Amoako called on residents of the Ashanti Region to vote decisively for Mahama, asserting that the NPP’s promises regarding these projects are unlikely to be fulfilled within the proposed timelines.
