Speaker has the right to adjourn Parliament- Lawyer Sam Okudzeto

Former Ghana Bar Association President, Lawyer Sam Okudzeto has disclosed that the speaker was right to adjourn parliament sitting because it is his responsibility and not the Court.

He said when things turn upside down, the speaker has the right to take any decision when there is confusion.

Speaking at a program dubbed: Entrepreneurship Jobs for all Projects, which was held at the Accra International Conference Center, Lawyer Sam Okudzeto, added that NDC MPs and NPP MPs fighting over the majority seat wasn’t necessary and so the speaker adjourning the house was the right thing to do.

Also, he believes that speaker’s pronouncement was to enable peace among both members, therefore, he says both parties should up their games and accept reality.

He said the right to interpret the constitution is vested by the constitution in the Supreme Court.

He added that he will not comment on the filing of defense document which was released by the Attorney General yesterday until court decides.
