The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the country’s largest opposition party, of attempting to manipulate the upcoming 2024 general election to the detriment of Ghanaians.
During a press conference at the NPP headquarters, Communications Director, Richard Ahiagba claimed that evidence presented by his team indicates that the NDC is exhibiting a desperate desire for power.
He alleged that the NDC has been utilizing a leaked document since 2021, employing disruptive and unethical tactics to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
Mr. Ahiagba criticized this strategy as a betrayal of public trust in Ghana’s democratic system, urging voters to respond accordingly by punishing such abuses to prevent future opposition parties from resorting to similar extremes, particularly in light of the NDC’s irregular opposition to the 2022 budget.
He also expressed concern over the NDC’s maneuvers in Parliament, suggesting that their efforts to gain majority status are being facilitated by the Speaker of Parliament, whom he accused of being complicit in this alleged scheme outlined in the controversial document.
