Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Kingmaker in the Greater Accra region, has publicly denied allegations linking him to the recent suspension of the La Traditional Council by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The ministry, alongside the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, indefinitely suspended the council’s operations to facilitate measures for its effective functioning.
Addressing the press, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV refuted claims that he played a role in the council’s suspension, asserting that he had no involvement in the circumstances leading to this decision.
He also questioned the legal grounds for the suspension, highlighting a perceived inconsistency in how traditional councils are treated across regions.
Specifically, he pointed out that other councils in areas affected by illegal mining, or galamsey, have not faced similar actions.
