Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Amasaman Constituency, Bishop Dr. Samuel K. Denoo, organized a political rally dubbed a “rapture walk” at Mahean Presby Park to expose himself to the people of Amasaman in order to garner votes during the 2024 general elections.
The event was held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, under the theme “Taking Over Amasaman Constituency by Independent Candidate.”
Bishop Denoo expressed optimism about his candidacy, indicating that despite the fact that this is his first political walk, he is very optimistic that he will win the hearts of the people in Amasaman.
“This is the first day of my political work, and I believe that as an independent candidate, I will win the hearts of the people and become the next MP on December 7,” he said.
Bishop Denoo emphasized his vision for the constituency, focusing on providing vocational training for youth.
According to him, having two or three jobs would not make you feel the heat of the economy as various incomes are gathered from different sources.
“My vision is simple; I want to give skill training to the youth. I believe that education and skills development are crucial for their survival,” he remarked.
He also shared his entrepreneurial experiences, indicating that he has been involved in various business ventures that align with his goal of uplifting the community.
Bishop Denoo stressed that through his involvement in various entrepreneurial businesses, he is able to support the people of Amasaman and since he has a good heart for the people, he wants to open their eyes to see the way forward so they can be able to see the goodness in venturing into entrepreneurship.
According to him, education is important to understand the economy of Ghana, and that is why he is pushing for skill education for the youth so that they can be able to fend for themselves with the skills learnt.
When discussing key issues he plans to tackle if elected, Bishop Denoo highlighted education and healthcare.

“I have a skill personnel that I will bring to train the youth. I will give them a financial capital to start their own businesses,” he said.
Bishop Denoo also plans to build a mobile manufacturing company in Amasaman to provide jobs and skills to the people of Amasaman.
“This plan was initiated in 2002, and it has not been able to come to life so I have this entrepreneur I am partnering with so this vision will come to life,” he added.
Addressing the challenges faced by independent candidates in Ghana’s political landscape, he noted that there is a common assumption that as an independent body, lobbying for development projects is very hard.
However, he asserted that the structure of government is already laid down.
I read Political Science, and I understand that the structure of the government is already laid down. What is constructed is that you lobby for projects, so it has nothing to do with the executive power. The passage of bills has to do with as legislative,” he said.
“If you want the government to construct roads for your constituency, you go to feeder roads and explain in paper the reasons why you want the roads constructed, and they will be constructed. So, it has nothing to do with the President or the Executive,” he added.
He asserted that both major parties have failed to meet the needs of the people, indicating the wrong way of practicing democracy in the country.
“The way democracy is being practiced has led to a downfall in our constituency. It’s time for change,” he stated.
Bishop Denoo concluded his remarks by urging attendees to actively participate in the electoral process and support candidates who prioritize community development.
