Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has expressed concerns regarding the Electoral Commission’s (EC) reluctance to release the final voter register.

He stated that the EC appears fearful of disclosing the register due to worries that the NDC might uncover additional anomalies or errors within it.

This delay, he argues, raises serious questions about the transparency of the electoral process as the country approaches the upcoming elections.

During a meeting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders, Dr. Boamah articulated the NDC’s frustrations, noting that they have made multiple requests for access to the final voter register, but have not received satisfactory responses from the EC.

He emphasized that this lack of cooperation reflects a troubling commitment to ensuring free and fair elections.

Additionally, Dr. Boamah criticized the EC’s plans to provide pens and markers instead of indelible ink for voting, stating that such a change undermines the integrity of the electoral process.

He reiterated that the NDC fought hard for indelible ink to ensure secure and reliable voting practices.
