Management of Kintampo Waterfalls has refuted reports circulating on social media that illegal mining activities have polluted the water.
According to the management, the brownish appearance of the waterfalls is a result of heavy rains in the area, which have significantly increased water inflow.
The Site Manager of Kintampo Waterfalls, Michael Afake, explained that this increased inflow carries a substantial amount of sediment and debris from upstream, altering the color of the water.
He clarified that this change is not due to illegal mining activities, as suggested in recent claims but rather due to these sediments that cause the change in colour of the water.
Mr. Afake noted that such fluctuations in water appearance are common following heavy rainfall and can disturb the natural components of the riverbed.
He expressed concern that negative stories like these could impact visitor patronage and revealed that a report has been made to the police regarding the individual behind the viral video that sparked these allegations.
Mr. Afake assured prospective visitors and tourists that Kintampo Waterfalls remains in good condition and emphasized the management’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for patrons.
