John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to establish a cocoa processing facility in Kukuom, located in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.
This commitment was made during a recent campaign stop in the region, where Mahama outlined his broader industrialization agenda aimed at transforming Ghana’s economy.
Mr. Mahama’s plan includes the construction of the cocoa processing facility as part of his proposed 24-hour economy policy, which is designed to enhance productivity, improve accessibility to services and goods, and create employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
He emphasized that this initiative is crucial for fostering economic growth and establishing industrial hubs across the country, especially in regions with strong agricultural outputs.
During his address, Mahama highlighted the importance of creating jobs for young people and ensuring that local industries thrive.
He stated that the cocoa processing facility would play a vital role in modernizing the cocoa sector and boosting the local economy.
Additionally, Mahama visited students at the Ntotroso Nursing and Midwifery College, where he reiterated his commitment to implementing policies that will generate more job opportunities for nurses.
According to him, his focus is to provide a comfortable environment for healthcare professionals and to ensure that they are able to secure jobs freely and quickly without any interruptions.
