EC approves 13 candidates for December Presidential Election

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has granted approval to 13 candidates, including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama, to participate in the upcoming presidential election on December 7.

This decision follows a comprehensive vetting process that ensured all candidates met the necessary qualifications.

Among those approved is Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former trade and industry minister now running as an independent candidate after departing from the ruling party.

Additionally, Nana Kwame Bediako, a businessman making his political debut, and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, the only female candidate in the race, have also been included.

The Electoral Commission highlighted that the selection process was conducted with fairness and transparency, urging all candidates to campaign peacefully and adhere to electoral regulations to maintain order during the election period.

11 candidates were disqualified after their nomination forms underwent rigorous scrutiny with PNDC flagbearer, Bernard Monarh, disqualified.
