National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says the party’s petition submitted to the Electoral Commission (EC) was intended to help the EC restore its integrity, which he believes has sunk very low.
Addressing the media after handing over their petition to the Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, Mr. Nketia indicated that the NDC is leveraging the EC’s motto of “Fairness and Transparency” to assist the commission.
According to him, the NDC hopes the EC will do the needful and agrees with their demands, as he does not see anything the EC stands to lose.
Mr. Nketiah emphasized that if the EC has nothing to hide, the forensic audit the NDC has been advocating for will vindicate them.
In a recorded statement, Mr. Nketiah also stated that the “Enough is Enough” demonstration was the biggest and most peaceful protest ever recorded in Ghana’s history, surpassing even the Kumi Preko demonstration.
He thanked the Ghana Police Service for their good performance during the demonstration.
