In a bid to empower Ghana’s youth with a stronger connection to scripture and a deeper understanding of their faith, Rev. Fr. Francis Mastan, SVD, Biblical Coordinator for SVD Ghana Province, has initiated a series of impactful youth Bible camps.

Rev. Fr. Francis Mastan, SVD, Biblical Coordinator for SVD Ghana Province, said, “We planned to bring the youth Bible camp to different categories of students. On December 23, 2023, we had a youth Bible camp for junior high school students, and this time we are having one for tertiary students.

We planned to train different kinds of youth in scripture so they can defend their faith and also have a deeper understanding of the Bible.

Our aim is to give the Catholic youth the word of God so they can become instruments of God, bringing the good news to people, especially where the word of God has not been heard.

The response from junior high school and senior high school students was good because they were on a long vacation, so they came in large numbers. However, this time, the tertiary students did not have enough holidays, and many of them were busy with other programs in the country, so not as many could attend.

The number of attendees doesn’t matter. We pray that those who came will learn more about the word of God and will be able to proclaim it when they return home.

The Catholic Church should emphasize the word of God, and every priest and baptized individual must prioritize learning, reading, and understanding the word of God. In today’s modern world, it is challenging for all churches, and my humble request to all of them is to know and read the word so that we can experience God more closely and spiritually, and become stronger through the word.”
