National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged Ghanaians to rally behind the party in its quest to reclaim power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He expressed concerns that Ghana’s democracy is currently under serious threat but remains confident that a unified front among citizens can help restore it.
During a recent address during the “Enough is Enough protest which is currently underway, Asiedu Nketiah stated that Ghana’s democracy is under serious threat now.
“We want to prevail, and we shall overcome. Every democracy has the risk of producing a tyrant, but what tests the resilience of that democracy is our ability to fight the tyrant and restore democracy once again,” he added.
He emphasized that while elections are crucial, they alone do not guarantee democracy; rather, it is the commitment of democratic-minded citizens to fight for their rights that ensures its survival.
Asiedu Nketiah’s remarks come as the NDC prepares for a nationwide protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) over alleged discrepancies in the voter register.
The party has raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and is demanding a forensic audit of the register ahead of the December elections.
