Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has asserted that there would have been a coup in Ghana if the level of corruption witnessed under the Akufo-Addo government had occurred during his administration.

Speaking during his campaign tour in Ngleshie Amanfro in the Greater Accra Region, Mahama criticized the NPP government for its mismanagement of the economy.

Mahama expressed surprise at the failure of clergy, civil society organizations (CSOs), and traditional leaders to hold the current administration accountable for the rampant corruption affecting the country.

He noted that some clergymen and traditional leaders have even gone so far as to bless the government for a job well done, despite the evident struggles faced by Ghanaians.
