Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has criticized his opponent, Pius Enam Hadzide, for his recent promise to facilitate travel for constituents to the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
Addressing the media at a press conference at Akosombo lorry station in the Eastern Region, Ampem condemned Hadzide’s admission of facilitating fraudulent visas for individuals to travel to Australia in 2018, which led to international mockery and ridicule for Ghana.
Mr. Ampem warned that Hadzide’s promise to repeat such actions if elected puts the constituency’s reputation at risk.
He highlighted Hadzide’s controversial past, including his involvement in visa scandals and the abandonment of youth resource centers, emphasizing that the people of Asuogyaman deserve better than a leader with questionable integrity and a history of deceit.
“What Pius is promising the youth of this constituency is criminal and could lead to arrests, deportations, and travel bans. We don’t want this for our young ones.,” he stated.
Mr. Ampem also stressed the importance of pursuing legitimate opportunities for travel and work abroad, vowing to support the youth in acquiring legal visas for education or work.
