Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured trainee nurses that the government is actively working to prevent delays in their allowances.
Addressing students at the LEKMA Nursing Training College in Accra while campaigning in the Ledzokuku constituency, he acknowledged that while there may be occasional delays, it is preferable to the complete cancellation of allowances.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that during their campaign in 2016, the NPP promised to restore nursing training allowances, a commitment they have fulfilled.
He emphasized that he is collaborating with the Ministry of Finance to address any delays in disbursement.
“Delays in allowances are better than allowances being cancelled altogether,” he stated, reinforcing the government’s dedication to supporting nursing students.
His remarks come at a time when the government is under scrutiny for various issues, including the timely payment of allowances to trainees in the health sector.
