Let’s collaborate in strengthening the party’s position for the elections- Bernard Mornah to contender

In a significant milestone for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has emerged victorious in the party’s flagbearer contest held on September 7, 2024.

The announcement was made by Electoral Commission officials at the UDS Guest House in Accra, where Mornah secured a commanding 1,138 votes against his opponent David Apasera, who garnered only 216 votes.

In his victory speech, he extended an olive branch to Apasera, urging him to collaborate in strengthening the party’s position for the elections.

He emphasized the importance of unity, stating, the need to put their differences aside and work together to achieve their goal of winning the general elections.

The congress faced initial delays due to an injunction filed by Apasera’s camp, but the party managed to resolve the matter, allowing the event to proceed without further disruption.

However, Apasera has since rejected the results, alleging irregularities during the voting process, including claims that voting did not occur in certain regions and that former General Secretary Janet Nabla participated despite no longer being a member of the party.

Mr. Apasera accused Mornah and the Electoral Commission of conspiring to undermine his candidacy and hinted at possible legal action to challenge the election results.

He emphasized that his objections are not merely about his personal defeat but are aimed at correcting significant wrongdoings to prevent their recurrence.
