The Immediate Past CEO of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority and current NPP spokesperson on Education Manifesto, Mr. Hayford Attah Krufi, has emphasized that addressing accommodation challenges at universities is a top priority for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer.
He highlighted the ongoing struggles students face in securing affordable accommodation on public university campuses, often leading them to pay exorbitant fees for hostel spaces.
Mr. Krufi pointed out that those fortunate enough to find accommodation frequently have to share cramped living conditions with seven or eight other students, which he deemed unacceptable.
He assured that a government led by Dr. Bawumia would tackle this issue by constructing additional halls of residence across all public universities in the country.
In an interview with Don Kwabena Prah Jnr on Hot FM’s Morning Drive, Mr. Krufi also mentioned plans to enhance scholarship schemes to ensure that needy but academically talented students receive the support they need to pursue their education.
He stressed that Dr. Bawumia’s commitment reflects the NPP’s broader goal of improving educational access and quality in Ghana.
