Security Analyst Anthony Acquaye from the Center for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy has expressed his support for the conditions laid out by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the signing of a peace pact with the National Peace Council.

He believes that the conditions, articulated by NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, are reasonable and achievable, serving as necessary deterrents to prevent unreasonable actions by politicians during the upcoming December 7 elections.

Asiedu Nketia outlined six conditions for signing the peace pact, which include requiring the President, the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief Justice, the National Security Coordinator, and the Attorney General to sign the agreement.

He also emphasized the need to resolve the Techiman incident, where fatalities occurred during the 2020 elections, before the NDC would agree to the pact.

Mr. Acquaye argues that justice and truthfulness are fundamental to achieving peace, asserting that fulfilling the NDC’s demands is essential for maintaining order.

He advised the Peace Council and the Electoral Commission to take proactive steps to address these conditions before tensions escalate further.
