Fulani community in Kwahu Afram Plains calls for security intervention

The leadership of the Fulani Community in Kwahu Afram Plains North and South in the Eastern Region has requested military and police intervention to assist in evacuating their cattle from the bushes, citing fears for their safety following the recent killings of four community members.

In a series of violent incidents, three Fulanis were killed months ago, with their heads severed, and just last weekend, another Fulani was found murdered in a similar manner, raising the death toll to four.

Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, along with Evans Ntiri Kyei, the District Chief Executive for Kwahu Afram Plains South, and DCOP Isaac Asante, the Eastern North Regional Police Commander, visited the Fulani community to assure them of their security.

Alhaji Idrisa Sambo, the chief of Fulanis in Kwahu Afram Plains North, expressed gratitude for the officials’ visit but emphasized the urgent need for military and police support to prevent further violence.

Similarly, Alhaji Sandari, the chief of Fulanis in Kwahu Afram Plains South, urged the youth in the community to rely on security forces for protection and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
