Sam George accuses Chief Justice of obstructing Anti-LGBTQ Bill

Samuel Nartey George, the lead advocate for the Anti-LGBTQ bill in Ghana, has leveled accusations against Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, claiming she is obstructing the progress of the bill.

Mr. George asserts that her actions are causing delays in transmitting the bill to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for approval.

Expressing his frustration over the indefinite adjournment of the injunction ruling related to the bill, George contends that the Chief Justice is abusing her power as outlined in Article 296 of the 1992 Constitution.

He argues that her conduct appears to obstruct justice and suggests that she may have an agenda against the bill.

Mr. George expressed disappointment in the Chief Justice’s actions, stating, “This behavior does not make sense,” and announced plans for a protest at her office to demand a timeline for the bill’s completion.
