The Leader of the Coalition of La Associations, Jeffery Tetteh, has challenged the statements made by Lands Minister Abu Jinapor, who claimed that state lands have not been sold under the current Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
Mr. Tetteh asserted that the coalition’s position is not that no past government has sold lands, but rather that the current government has sold more state lands than any previous administration in Ghana’s history.
During a press briefing, Lands Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor addressed the accusations, expressing surprise at the claims suggesting that state lands are being given to individuals with links to the government.
He indicated that the government has not sold any state lands.
However, Tetteh refuted the minister’s claims, stating that the coalition is well aware of the sales of state lands in areas like Labadi, Cantonments, and Labone, and they have proof of these transactions.
He emphasized that if the government is indeed carrying out its duty properly by protecting state lands, then President Akufo-Addo should make a declaration and warn all state institutions to halt all projects being undertaken on state lands.
Mr. Tetteh stated that the coalition will continue to protest until their demands are met.
He accused the government of being complicit in the alleged land sales and deliberately refusing to disclose the status of all public lands in the country.
