The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has strongly denied allegations that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration is selling state lands to cronies.
In a press briefing, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor expressed surprise at these claims, stating that they are unfounded and misleading.
Mr. Jinapor specifically addressed accusations regarding the sale of lands at Cantonment and the W.E.B. DuBois Centre, clarifying that these transactions did not occur under the current NPP government.
He noted that it is perplexing for individuals who previously sold state lands to now accuse the government of state capture.
For instance, he mentioned that bungalows belonging to the Judiciary Service at Cantonment were sold in 2015, well before the current administration took office.
He emphasized that the government has adhered to due process in all land transactions, asserting that the allegations are politically motivated, especially given the current heated political climate.
Mr. Jinapor reiterated that the Akufo-Addo administration remains committed to protecting public lands in the interest of the nation, and he dismissed the notion of favoritism in land dealings as completely without merit
