The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has launched this year blood donation campaign aimed to donate blood to support national blood bank.
The campaign, a collaborative effort among key industry stakeholders, including the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG), The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG), the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, the National Association of Ghana Insurance Agents (NAGIA), WAICA Re, and the Ghana Insurance College (GIC), has made significant strides in supporting the National Blood Service Ghana.
The National Insurance Commission blood donation campaign is focused on mainly saving the lives of pregnant women, children with cancer, and accident victims.
Speaking at the launched here in Accra, the Acting Commissioner of Insurance in Ghana, Mr Michael Andoh, pledged the commission’s continuous supply of blood while lauding organizations and individuals for patronizing this annual blood donation campaign.
With the 2024 campaign to be launched this August, Mr Michael Andoh has called on all insurance companies, brokers, agents and the general public to support this worthy cause.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Blood Service, Dr. Shirley Owusu Ofori also encouraged Ghanaians to engage actively in blood donation activities to help improve on the health sector of the country.
The Deputy Chief of Staff (medical Services) at the Ghana Armed Forces, Major General Raymond Ewusi also encouraged Ghanaians to take proper care of themselves by going for regular check-ups and avoid things that will require the need of urgent blood emergencies.
