Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to support startup businesses and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) owned by the youth of Ghana if elected into power.
Speaking during the celebration of this year’s International Youth Day, themed “From Clicks to Progress,” he emphasized the role of digital technologies in fostering innovation and sustainable development.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that his initiatives would equip over one million young people with essential skills, enhancing their employability in the digital economy.
He highlighted the government’s ongoing digital initiatives, including mobile money interoperability and drone delivery systems, as key drivers of growth and development in the country.
In his address, he proposed the introduction of a credit system aimed at facilitating access to loans for startups and SMEs, which have faced significant challenges in securing funding.
He underscored the importance of the youth in nation-building and reiterated his commitment to empowering them for digital employment opportunities.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohammed Yusif, also assured Ghanaian youth of increased opportunities, stating that the government is dedicated to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, has access to skill development.
He echoed the government’s commitment to cultivating the talents of young people to drive socio-economic growth.
