The Young Christian Students Movement recently hosted an event focused on “Embracing Our Responsibilities as Young Disciples and Inspiring the Next Generation.” During the event, Mrs. Kateleen and Mr. Torsu shared valuable insights on the responsibilities and features of a disciple.
Mrs. Kateleen emphasized the importance of fulfilling our chores, engaging in socialization and continuous learning, being vigilant, understanding our obligations, practicing stewardship, and comprehending the responsibilities of a disciple. She also highlighted the key features of a disciple, including good character, serving as a role model, dedication, moral uprightness, modesty in dressing, punctuality, and developing skills.
Mr. Torsu discussed the concept of discipleship and how it entails accepting and applying teachings, distinguishing between childhood and adulthood based on work and education. He also outlined the specific responsibilities of a disciple, including evangelism and teaching, demonstrating love for God, others, and oneself, dedication, gratitude, standing out, self-denial, following the truth, fellowshipping with fellow believers, sharing, imitating Christ, and surrendering one’s possessions to God.
Both speakers encouraged the attendees to uphold good values, work diligently to support their country and the work of God, and be respectful in their interactions. Mrs. Kateleen expressed her delight in meeting with the young disciples, emphasizing the need for them to lead upright lives that draw others to Christ. She also stressed the importance of being time-conscious, decent, and punctual members of society and leading lives guided by Christ.
Furthermore, Mrs. Matilda Teni Adombire, the Vice President of YCW, extended gratitude to God for granting wisdom in organizing the event and shared prayers for the guidance and protection of the young participants as they carry out their responsibilities.
Charles Mensah Nyamedi, the Communication Officer of YCWSM, explained the organization’s commitment to supporting the youth in understanding Christ, guiding them in living good lives, and correcting them when necessary.
Overall, the event served as a platform for nurturing the spiritual and physical growth of the youth, emphasizing the importance of living by Christian values and teachings.
