The Fanteakwa South District Assembly in the Eastern region of Ghana has held its maiden annual Town Hall Meeting at Nsutam.
In his presentation, the Physical Planning Officer of Fanteakwa South District, Mr. Anim Benjamin, highlighted some of the Developmental Projects of the Assembly, as construction of CHPS Compounds, Schools, Drilling of bore holes, among others whiles, explained the sources of funding for the Projects were IGF, District Assemblies Common Fund, PWDs Common fund, Grant and many others.
On behalf of Fanteakwa South DCE’s addressed, Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh Paddy, the Presiding Member (PM) of Fanteakwa South, through DCE’s speech commended Chiefs and the people of Fanteakwa South District of their Support and said every citizens have the chance to demand accountability from the local Government authority in Pursuant to the Local Government Act, to afford the people an opportunity to engage the District Assembly officials on the Assembly’s service delivery outcomes, such takeholders’ engagement to promote accountability.
In Furtherance, Mr. Maanu Francis Fenadino, Senior Trainer, Advocates Community Alternatives (ACA) explained, the “Advocates Community Alternatives is a non-profit-making organization,” that has a long-standing partnership with the Fanteakwa South District.
On his turn, Mr. Maanu Francis, stated, the organization help the Assembly to renders accounts to residents through a Town Hall Meeting and places much premium to stakeholders’ engagements such as Promoting accountability, saves cost and ensures a well-informed decision-making and therefore reminded the Assembly that they owed it as responsibility to make conscious effort to improve on participation of the citizenry in every stage of development.
Finally, during the open forum, some of the citizens commended the Organizers for a good work done While raised some issues by asking the Assembly to focused mainly on effectiveness of the Illigal Mining (Galamsey) within Fanteakwa South District, among others.
