At the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Mr. Matthew Owusu, Deputy Director-General of NaCCA, spoke about the responsibilities of the organization as mandated by the Education Regulatory Body Act 2020 of Act 10 23.
NaCCA is responsible for the development of curriculum and assessment standards for all pre-tertiary institutions in the country, excluding technical and vocational schools. The organization also evaluates and approves textbooks used in pre-tertiary institutions. Additionally, NaCCA reviews existing subjects and recommends them for use in the curriculum, as well as provides input on timetables and teacher-learner ratios.

The new Senior High School (SHS) curriculum emphasizes twenty-first-century skills and competencies, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. These skills are considered crucial for the success of learners in their future studies and careers.
Furthermore, the curriculum emphasizes Ghanaian values such as patriotism, honesty, empathy, and respect, and introduces subject combinations to provide learners with more flexibility in choosing their courses.
