The Zongo Chief of Gonser Ablekuma Gonser Agape Down, Sharki Ahmed Abass, expressed gratitude to Allah for the blessings of Eid al-Adha In his address, he emphasized the community’s commitment to supporting the youth and ensuring their protection during this year’s elections. Chief Abass highlighted that by listening to the wisdom of the elders, the youth are being guided away from potential conflicts.
He also brought attention to significant local issues, particularly the persistent flooding in Gonser Agape Down. He urged Ghanaian leaders to assist in addressing these challenges and called for the completion of a crucial bridge to mitigate the flooding problem.
Chief Abass advised the youth to avoid getting involved in electoral conflicts or being swayed by the temptations of monetary offers from political leaders. He stressed the importance of not allowing politicians to exploit them.

Deputy Chief Shariki Alhaji Ali also gave thanks on this auspicious Eid al-Adha day. He echoed Chief Abass’s sentiments, noting that the elders have established measures to prevent harmful activities within the community. He also highlighted the urgent need for development in Gonser Agape Down, pointing out the poor road conditions and lack of potable drinking water. He appealed to the government for support in improving these basic amenities.

Imam of Gonser Agape Down, who led the Eid al-Adha prayers, explained the significance of the holiday, recounting the story of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac, and how Allah provided a ram instead. He emphasized the importance of sacrifice in Islam, urging individuals to learn from this story to support their neighbors, families, and country. The Imam praised Chief Abass for his efforts in uniting the community leaders to resolve local issues, underscoring the theme of sacrifice for the greater good of the community and the nation.
