Professor Kwame Osei Kwarteng, Chairman of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), highlights the organization’s focus on a three-part educational framework. .
Prof. Kwame Osei Kwarteng, NaCCA Chairman, stated that The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is divided into three parts. We have a standard base from KG up to class 6, and a common core from JHS to SHS.
We have completed the standard base and the common core. Currently, we are at the SHS level, and we want the stakeholders to understand the changes we have made better.
In the past, education was focused on exams, but the world has changed. We no longer advocate for rote learning because it’s not sufficient for employment in the modern world. Merely passing exams is not enough; individuals need practical skills attached to their education.
In today’s world, problem-solving skills are essential. We need to equip students with knowledge that can be applied to solve real-world problems. ICT is crucial in today’s world, and we need to teach our children how to use the internet effectively as they grow up.
