SUPPORT GREEN GHANA PROJECTS TO PRESERVE THE ENVIRONMENT.

Celebrating the Green Ghana Day in Fanteakwa South District, KIBI GOLDFIELDS MINING COMPANY LIMITED, Deputy Managing Director (DMD),MR. KOFI DAFFOUR DARTEY, said the Kibi Goldfields Mining has released 20 acres of reclamation lands for Forestry Commission on the tree planting Project to advocated for a concerted effort to promote the cultivation and protection of trees so therefore urged all to support the Green Ghana Project to Preserve the environment.

In Furtherance, MR. KOFI DAFFOUR used the Occassion to expressed worry on the way and manner the Galamsey activities in Fanteakwa South District has been destroying the forest and their ligal Concertion is alarming, so therefore used the Opportunity to called on Government to enforce the law on Galamsey activities to protect the environment and stressing, the Green Ghana Day highlight the collective dedication to environmental sustainability, while underscoring the importance of proactive measures against pressing environmental challenges that includes Climate change, Deforestation espectially, by illigal Mining activity and Water Pollution.

In his address, MR. ADOMAKO ASARE,
the Fanteakwa District Assistants Manager of Forestry Commission, encouraged all to support and rally behind the Green Ghana initiative to Preserve the environment by protecting water bodies and Climate Change to exceed target.

Mr. Adomako Asare States, the planting exercise, which aimed at replenishing Ghana’s depleted forest cover
under the theme: “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow.” is to safeguard the planet for present and gusture generation.

He emphasized, this year’s target is to plant over 10 million tree seedlings to underscore the ambitious goals
and revealed that the Fanteakwa South District has taken delivery of 65000 seedlings made up of different tree species on degraded mining lands especially, “Dwarso” a suburb of Osino and believes will help tackle climate change due to depletion of forest.

In his Remarks, the District Chief Executive Fanteakwa South (DCE), HON. ERNEST OFOSU, bemoaned the rate of destruction caused to forest cover especially through illegal mining activities, he is hopeful the Green Ghana Project will help restore depleted forest to help preserve vegetative cover of the environment and promote climate change mitigation.

He lauded the Green Ghana initiative has potential to enhance economic opportunities, preserve and mitigate the threat of illegal mining thereby safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Hon. Ernest Ofosu, called on residents to prioritize planting, nurturing and protection of trees to ensure the Government’s Greening Ghana project succeed, whiles warned the illigal Miners that’s Galamseyers to disist from the uncultured attitude.
