The Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Nkawkaw Branch, Mr. Daniel Willson-Addo, has called on all Ghanaians to support the Green Ghana Project to help Ghana fight climate crisis to safeguard the environment to the essence of nurturing the tree planting to maturity and thereby maximizing their contribution of planting variety of tree seedlings at Kwahu Hwee-whee at East District in the Eastern Region, which were secured from the Forestry Commission, that included Coconut, Lemon and Orange, Acacia, Mango and Nim.
He said the current outlook of the country shows that its vegetation cover is under serious threat the project will therefore not only help protect the environment, but also address the issue of climate change to ensure that Ghanaians are much aware of the importance of tree and the need to protect the forest cover to improper mining activities and indiscriminate felling of trees without proper reforestation.
The project, which aimed to plant more trees to preserve and protect the country’s forest cover and the environment at large is to rekindle the spirit of tree planting and hinted, a lot of vegetation cover had been destroyed in the country through human activity so therefore, urged all to partake in the exercise and ensure that they nurture their trees to grow for the benefit of present and future generations.
On his part, Mr. Nii-Kwei Kussa-chin, Kwahu District Forestry Commission Manager stressed, the current outlook of the country shows that its vegetation cover is under serious threat and the Green Ghana project will not only help, but also protect the environment and address the issue of climate change.
