A Global Goodwill Peace ambassador & UN – SDGs ( 17) 2030 agenda advocate champion -Kojo Sackey; a proud Ghanaian young International Diplomat and illustrious son of Africa, made this call during an online interview session after the Africa Union Day pre-event celebration organized by Africa Renaissance Diaspora Network( ARDN) in conjunction with Senegal Permanent Mission under the theme “BUILDING RESILIENT EDUCATION SYSTEMS TO ENSURE INCREASED ACCESS TO INCLUSIVE, LIVE LONG, QUALITY AND RELEVANT LEARNING IN AFRICA ” United Nations Headquarters, Trusteeship Chamber dated Friday, 24th May 2024.
The event saw many distinguished personalities from all walks of life, including Prof. Jeffries; old-time Pan- Pan-Africanist, Hon. Constance Berry Newman; Board Chairperson ARDN, Representative of UN-Habitat; Michal Mlynar ( Guest of honor), Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations; H.E AMB. CHEIKH NIANG, MR.DJIBRI DIALLO; THE ADRN President & Founder, Civil society Representative, Youth panel session moderator, and ARDN Board member; Gordon M.Tapper among others.
The function which was chaired by H.E Diamane Diome emphasized the need to support quality, inclusive, and lifelong learning opportunities for African youth to leverage enormous natural resources and human capital for Africa’s renaissance in the face of all challenges as it was disclosed to the GNA reporter.
The UN Goodwill Peace Ambassador in an online interview session after the event had advocated strongly against any form of injustice, political violence, electoral malpractice, bad leadership, inequalities widening gap, relative deprivation, and disunity, among others within democratic society in the African sub-region which is an absolute recipe for under-development and social retrogression in many years within our sub-region.
He paid glowing tribute to both ancient forebears and distinguished eminent personalities like Late Dr.Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah( Ghana), Julius Nyerere ( Tanzania), Emperor Haile Selassie ( Ethiopia), Patrice Lumumba( Dr. Congo), and recent Africa leaders, among others who were proponents for Africa Union formation, maintenance, and transformation agenda to date, despite many years of struggle from imperialism and colonialism from Western powers and control.
He employed African youth to remain focused and used their acquired skills and talents to support the innovation and transformation agenda of the UN since Africa has the most populous youth force, and statistically, 60% are under the age of 25years poised with energy and different skills set for growth ahead the UNGA summit of the future to be held in September 2024- NYC.
Recalling the UNSC resolution 2250 passed, reaffirming the importance and key functions youth plays in the decision-making process and policy formulation agenda relying on new technology and artificial intelligence.
The Special Advisor for Social Development & human Services; United Nations International MISSION responsible for humanitarian and other essential services within the United States of America, United Nations International Mission, further reiterated the need for youth to refrain from all other forms of violence and not allow themselves to be used at conduits for electoral malpractice and needless war around the world as part of online interview session.
UN Goodwill Peace Ambassador/ Africa Development Focal Point to the United Nations-International Association of World Peace Advocates who also worked closely with other UN ECOSOC Accredited organizations; World Federation of the United Nations Association/ UNA/ UNYA/Ghana chapter, Project Peace light- USA, Media ( ABCN & Central Press News Agency), MISS CARICOM INTERNATIONAL, AHC- INC, and FANA among others in line with UN sustainable development goals ( SDG 17).
Ambassador Sackey jokingly said that ” he is not a politician and magician but part of the mission to ensure Global Peace, Fundamental Human rights Good Governance and International Security among others which are sin-quo-non to economic development in our sub-region and the world at large.
The country Ghana touted to be safe, democratic, and stable for trade, investment, and tourist destinations on the west coast of Africa must continue to show the rest of the sub-region and international community at large, its democratic prowess, shining examples and successive transition among others but not limited to peace coexistence among political leaders, religious bodies and civil society at larger, etc.
To this end, H.E AMBASSADOR DR.STEPHEN KOJO SACKEY calls on all governments, security institutions, academia, civil society, opinion leaders, peace council, clergy, chiefs, electoral commission, and all key stakeholders to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections pre, during and post- general elections campaign in the republic of Ghana upcoming 7th December 2024.
He is confident and hopeful that come 2025, Ghana 🇬🇭 will celebrate with the rest of the world its consolidated electoral success and economic progress among the comity of nations.
