Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr Stephen Amoah has urged key players in the tourism ecosystem to do their outmost best to attract tourists from the sub-region to visit their site.
This according to him, tourism plays a very important role in the Ghanaian economy and therefore actors in tourism must to in strategic areas.
The Nhyiaso legislature opined that tourism sector fetches Ghana millions of dollars annually and therefore government has to put in regulations to boost tourism tourism in the country.
Dr. Stephen Amoah made this assertion at the 2nd CEO’s Breakfast Meeting organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre(GIPC),in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Tourism under the theme:Regulatory Framework for Tourism Infrastructure and Its Growth.
He called on the Ministry of Tourism to come out with a strategy which help improve home grown tourism which is another form making money within the tourism ecosystem in Ghana.
Chief Director at the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, Mr John Yao Agbeko alluded that tourism development contribute towards increasing growth and poverty alleviation.
He Pleaded with government to invest in the infrastructural areas as far as tourism is concerned to protect visitors as and when they visit tourist sites.
According to him, tourist safety at every tourism destination plays a major role in attracting visitors in sustaining the industry.
On his part, Mr Yofi Grant stated that the 14 year development plan by government in the tourism sector will go along way to boost tourism performance in the country.
He seized the opportunity in thanking the regulatory body, that is Ghana Tourism Authority for their efforts in ensuring tourism becomes a key pillar in the country’s economy.
