Atwima Kwanwoma district Health Directorate marks 2024 Child Health Promotion Week

The Atwima Kwanwoma District Health Directorate has marked this year’s Child Health Promotion Week with a series of activities focused on enhancing infant healthcare promotion.

As a tradition, the health directorate lined up community durbars, outreaches and other activities for the year’s celebration which is on the theme “Healthy Childhood :Invest in your child for a better future.”

Speaking to otec news reporter Simon Opoku Afriyie in an interview today, Deputy District Director of Health at Atwima Kwanwoma Mr Simon Asare Mireku used the occasion to call on parents and guardians to have time for their child health since they are the future leaders of this country.

He asked pregnant women in the area to strictly uphold post-natal services and to seek to ensure total care for the child by faithfully attending child welfare clinics.

On her part, Maame Yaa Konadu Adiyiah Ashanti Regional Nutrition officer used the occasion to highlight the need for a heavy emphasis on breastfeeding, noting that the rate of exclusive breastfeeding should not decrease.

New mothers were also told to ensure quality nutrient composition in the complimentary diets of infants, and to maintain constant growth monitoring through the antenatal sessions.

She also called attention to the immunisation coverage within the district , which was also a major focus for the celebration.
