Adams is the caretaker of Abosomakotre Herbal Center in Kumasi Abrepo- Asubonteng, which is owned by Musah Mohammed, also known as Nana Abosomakotre.
Adams reported to the Bohyen Police on November 22nd, 2023, that he was attacked and robbed by three unidentified men who stole a Mossberg Pump Action gun with registration number T – 118948, which belonged to Nana Abosomakotre. However, the police arrested Adams as the prime suspect in the crime after interrogating him.
Adams later admitted to the crime and named Richard as the person who borrowed the gun from him in exchange for ¢2500 for his father’s funeral. Richard, who had a criminal record, hid the gun in a container in their neighborhood. Patrick Adjei, the second accused, found the gun and relocated it to his house. This made Adams stage the alleged robbery so that Nana Abosomakotre wouldn’t suspect him of the theft.
The state prosecutor, ASP Newlove Adjei, prayed the court to punish the two accused for deceiving a public officer and stealing from their boss. Patrick Adjei was charged with criminal intentions for failing to return the gun to the police but rather selling it.
The presiding judge, His Honor Stephen Kumi, sentenced Adams to 25 years to 42 months of imprisonment or a fine of ¢3600. Patrick Adjei was sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment or a fine of ¢3600.
The presiding judge’s lenient sentence was based on Nana Abosomakotre’s open forgiveness he confessed before the court, and the two accused being first-time offenders. The two were made to sign a bond to be of good behavior for 24 months, or they would have to serve six months in prison before their case would be heard.
Nana Abosomakotre, the chief of the Wala tribe in Wenchi and the leader of the Abosomakotre Herbal Center located in three regions, paid the ¢3600 fine for his subordinate Osman Adams as a sign of genuine forgiveness for the errors he committed.
