The Chief of Kwahu Tafo, also Kwahu-Twa-fo)-hene Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll has entreated Ghanaian youth to show respect to the elderly to enable them to achieve their aspirations of becoming better people in society adding, he had taken notice of the disrespectful attitude of some youth at various schools and institutions hence the call.
Speaking to his subjects during this year’s Easter festivity at Kwahu Tafo, Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll, has strongly challenged the youth to be disciplined and law-abiding citizens indicating, that despite the hot conditions in the country which is influenced by Pressure should not be an excuse to insult the elders and further cautioned the youth to abide by the words of the Bible which admonished them to obey their mother and father.
Nana Kwasi Opoku Mintah ll, expressed worry and said it is sad to see the lack of respect for the elderly and authorities in the country as a whole in the name of politics so therefore, charged Ghanaian youth to respect the elderly people in their community and the country at large.
Similarly, he cautions parents to morally train their children to be self-reliant which would broaden and accelerate the pace of their development, and advises parents to train their wards in a Godly manner, to instill Christian morals and values.
In a related story, Nana Opoku Mintah ll used the occasion to caution media practitioners, especially radio stations not to be in the haste to report issues on air even though it is the responsibility of the media to provide accurate and transparent information to the populace, it is also the sole responsibility to manage the information to suit the youth of the country.
He made the statement based on the way, LGBTQ+ issues have been frequently discussed on air and for some reason suggests it’s gradually gaining ground and being hyped too much on Air recently.
He explained that journalism thrived on integrity and credibility, hence the need for journalists not to rush just to be first to break news so therefore, appealed to the media to use their network for constructive discussions but rather plead with the media practitioners to allocate more air time and editorial space to educate the public on their basic obligations, as well as the true picture of happenings in the country to help them make informed interpretations as a shared responsibility.
