Despite the government’s fight against illegal small-scale mining also known as galamsey, such activity is progressing unabated within the community of Manso Odumasi in the Amansie South district of the Ashanti Region leaving the destruction of the road linking from Kensere Nkwanta to Odumasi and heavily polluted water bodies.

some of the excavators and other equipment used by illegal miners on their sites which are close to their main road are destroying the road.

Speaking to the residents in the Odumasi community, they mentioned that the sad story of their activities is that some of their mining site is closed to the park and public school in the area which poses a threat to their lives appeal to the government to intervene by intensifying anti-illegal mining fight to end the activities of these illegal miners.

They mentioned that it’s very sad the illegal mining activities are still ongoing, busily engaging in the mining process without any reclamation.
