President Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the nation has turned the corner in its economic situation. Ghana is currently under a three-year International Monetary Fund (IMF) program that involves a $3 billion injection into the economy to restore confidence in the local market.
The country’s public debt as of 2022 was 92.4% of GDP, with the government attributing the economic challenges to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
In his Christmas Day message, the President stated that Ghana is experiencing improvements, with inflation being reined in, a relatively stable exchange rate, and economic growth rebounding.
He expressed hope that with sustained hard work and determination, the country will overcome the challenges it faces.
President Akufo-Addo encouraged Ghanaians to reflect on the cardinal principles of Christianity during the festive season, emphasizing charity, faith, humility, love, and reconciliation as guiding principles.
