Supporters of the UK-based New Patriotic Party (NPP) have released a communiqué to address the issue of threatening language by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 general elections.
This press release was signed by the Director of Public Relations and his representatives Kwaku Bimpeh and Oba Yaa who respectively condemned the violent speeches by former President John Mahama, the NDC Chairman, and other key party figures.
John Dramani’s “do or die” comments ahead of the 2024 elections to elect Ghana’s new leader have been condemned by the release. The former president’s comments imply that the NDC is not sitting idle, but will do “whatever it takes” to win the next election, and this does not seem to have gone down well with the NPP.
According to the communiqué, NDC Chairman Asiedu Nketiah also incited party members to commit violence in all matters relating to NPP member states.
The act condemned by the UK branch of the NPP was Mustapha Gbande’s war-inducing speech in which he “advised NDC members to carry daggers to the polling stations.
