Chieftaincy Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng has issued an urgent call to the National House of Chiefs to intervene in the escalating tensions between Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Dormaahene Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II.
The two leaders have recently been involved in a public dispute, with Dormaahene announcing the suspension of the Berekum Traditional Council from its activities.
The Dormaahene’s decision was prompted by an injunction that prevented him from attending the final funeral rites of the late chief of Berekum, Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II.
This injunction allowed Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to visit the town and mourn the late chief.
In response to the situation, Chieftaincy Minister Asamoah Boateng has appealed to the National House of Chiefs to urgently resolve the impasse.
He acknowledged that the public dispute between the leaders is not contributing positively and emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue to bring calmness and resolve issues behind closed doors.
Asamoah Boateng highlighted that the current tension adds to the numerous chieftaincy cases currently pending before his ministry.
