Second Lady Samira Bawumia has donated hampers to 500 widows at Ga South municipality in the Greater Accra Region before this year’s Christmas celebration.
Hajia Samira said the gifts were to support the widows and their families in marking the festivities.
Addressing the gathering at Ashalaja Upper Room Assemblies of God in the Ga South municipality in Accra today, she stated that it is not a pleasant situation to find yourself in, as a widow, and becoming the breadwinner of the home.
She continued that as your daughter, I have come to give to you, the little I have, so we can all smile during the season.
The package comprised pieces of GTP cloth, scarves, bags of rice, bottles of oil, chocolate beverages, milk, biscuits, drinks, and bars of chocolate, among others.
She assured them of her continuous support through her not-for-profit organization, the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP).
The Second Lady is known for her humanitarian assistance to underprivileged individuals and groups across Ghana.
She was accompanied by the NPP Parliamentary, Constituency Chairman, women Organizer, the candidate the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga South Assembly, clergy, and the Muslim leaders, especially the Fulani community.
She emphasized that all the policies rolled out by the Akufo-Addo government were meant to relieve women.
She encouraged the widows to make the most out of these policies.
The widows, some of whom were in tears, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Second Lady for her thoughtfulness and kind gesture.
She however seized the opportunity to seek prayers and blessings of God over her and her husband to become the next president so that she can continue the good works in the coming years.
