The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong warning to the Electoral Commission (EC), urging them to avoid any recurrence of the technical challenges experienced during the District Level Elections (DLEs).
The party cautioned the EC against repeating what they referred to as a ‘mess’ during the upcoming 2024 polls to avert any potential issues.
The local elections held on December 19 were marred by issues such as delayed arrival of voting materials and alleged distribution of incorrect ballot papers, leading to the EC rescheduling the elections in parts of the Ashanti and Eastern regions to Thursday, December 21, 2023, citing technical challenges as the cause.
In a statement, Jamal Konneh, the NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary, criticized the EC for its failure to implement measures ensuring the successful conduct of the elections.
