The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has published the provisional results of candidates who participated in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
However, the results of 4,878 candidates have been withheld due to their failure to return learning support materials provided by their schools.
These affected candidates are advised to contact their respective schools for further assistance.
In addition, WAEC has issued a cautionary statement to candidates, urging them to be cautious of individuals claiming to be able to upgrade results in exchange for a fee.
The council reassures candidates that results are secure and can be verified through its results authentication system.
WAEC has taken disciplinary actions, including the cancellation of subject results for 3,647 candidates who brought unauthorized materials like prepared notes, textbooks, and printed materials into the examination halls.
Furthermore, 839 entire results were cancelled because candidates were found in possession of mobile phones during the examination.
Additionally, WAEC has withheld the subject results of 4,280 candidates and the entire results of 1,005 candidates due to various suspected offenses.
Notably, subject results of candidates from 235 schools have been withheld based on suspicions of collusion and the use of artificially intelligence-generated answers.
